Common questions
Is this a substitute for talking to my doctor?
No. SyncMeds is a personal reminder and tracking tool. It's not a substitute for medical advice. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before changing a medication or if you're worried about something.
How does the AI pharmacy call work?
When you tap "Call Pharmacy", SyncMeds's backend uses Twilio to place a real phone call. An AI voice agent identifies you, your prescription, and requests the refill. You see a live transcript and can take over the call at any time. If the AI isn't available or you're on the free plan, SyncMeds opens the native Phone app and shows an on-screen script for you to read aloud.
Does this work if I'm blind?
Yes. SyncMeds has full VoiceOver support. Every button has a label, every image has a description or is hidden from the reader. You can add medications by voice, ask Siri "when's my next medication?", and hear every screen announce itself aloud. The camera scanning feature requires sight, but every other feature works without needing to see the phone.
Can I track my mom's meds if she doesn't have the app?
Yes — with the Pro plan. Add her as a family member in your profile switcher, enter her medications, and SyncMeds will remind you on her behalf. You'll see her adherence in the Family Hub. She doesn't need to install anything.
What if I miss a dose?
SyncMeds marks it as missed after a grace period and logs it in your health journal so you can show your doctor the real picture, not a sanitized version. You can also tap "Take" at any time after the fact to mark it retroactively.
Is my data sent to any AI company?
Only when you specifically use a feature that needs AI. Scan & Ask sends your document text to Google Gemini. Voice medication parsing uses Gemini as a fallback. AI pharmacy calls send prescription details through our Twilio backend. Every AI touchpoint is disclosed in the app's Privacy & Security screen, and you can see which features use AI before you turn them on.
